Final Minutes

We are just hours before submission, and we still have our intro yet to be edited and the main page to be compiled. Time to crunch, work hard and more sweat and effort flowing.

To add more twist to the situation right now, we lost one of our member, Shanker as he dropped this subject due to unforseen circumstances. Yes, that is true. Now the burden is more on the two of us now....

GUI and Things

The initial GUIis done and shown to the tutor 2 weeks ago. However, we decided to ditch everything out of the window and back to the drawing board. Yes, it is drastic, and in such a short time, I don't know wheather we can finish it.

I'm a bit worried about my team not finishing everything in time. I should not panic, scramble, but instead I have to do my part as fast as possible. Time for another burning the midnight oil period.... again.

Progress

Consulatation sesssion is here again, and we have only progressed in steps beyond imagination. My teammates are so busy to post an update for this blog.

Once the final GUI is done all we need to do is to fill up the content and presto! our application will be born!

Assignment: Introduction

We are required to create an introduction of our application. Since it is an individual work, so we each have to create one version of the intro with the same theme. Mine is more focused on the suspense of riding the roller coaster. I made myself two main characters, one is afraid while waiting for the roller coaster to reach the peak, the other is happy and anticipated. What I think my introduction is funny because there is a twist towards the end of the animation. You just have to watch and see.

I have just finished mine. Can't wait for my team member's version of their introduction.

Presentation....

XP yes we need to present our ideas in front of the class. Though it is not the first time to conduct a presentation, yet I am nervous because I do not have much to say. Futhermore, some of our things are a little too last minute. In our presentation, all we need to do is to present our progress and a little bit of our GUI (Graphic User Interface).

The presentation went well except some technical problems in the process. Files cannot be opened, web pages somehow need refreshing to be displayed and so on. Other than these hiccups, it worked out fine for me.

By the way, the photo album has been populated with more photographs. Click the link of the previous post to browse them.

Research: The Fun One

I headed down to Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur to do myself a research about the theme park there. This is not the first time there in Cosmo's World, but there are things still fasinates me, like the gigantic structure of the theme park itself, the raging colours decorated the park as well as the people flocking there. I am at the right time to go there as there were a lot of people during school holidays, else I would ended up with pictures of empty rides.

It was a lot of fun taking pictures of people enjoying their days there and have fun. I too not miss the fun by going a few trips of my favorite rides there. That way I will not pay RM 25 for nothing.

I uploaded the pictures in my photobucket account. Here it is:

Transformation

for the convienence of my teammate, we hadchanged our group session to group 5, which means a new schedule and a new tutor. Things are fine while adapting to the "metamorphosis", execpt that I am still not used to the different dynamics and approach of the tutor.

If this is not surprising enough, we welcomed our third member of our group, Shanker. Unexpectedly, we have to alter some of our plans to cater our third member. He is willingly to go to Genting Highlands, which is the subtopic we added for our application.

We have now had a proposal and an outline of what we should have to do as well as the templete sketches, it is time to do some research of the topic. I planned to go to Times Square this Friday. I will take pictures of the rides and attractions of the place.

Concepts, concepts and concepts

Now that we have our topic laid out, it is time to start the basic layout of the application. I am in charge of the of the concepts of the application while Zaei is responsible of the design sketches. Proposal is done according to the consultation. We set up objectives, target group (children ages 6-12), layout plans and also included the url of this blog.

I decided to lay out our concept into two forms: Concept map and organization chart. The latter is displaying the pages will be featured in the application and the former is about the random ideas put into an organized map. The concept map is vey messy with arrows flying over words and phrases, while the organization chart is neatly presented. Well that's having a total opposite of things in this group.

Now we need to present this to our tutor for consultation.

Here is the site map in form of an organization chart:

Here is the concept map:

P.S: I checked out other group's blog and found out there are smileys and informal languages. Is it okay to do so?

Brainstorming and Consultation

The chosen topic of our team is Theme Parks in Malaysia. We have a few locations that we wanted to feature in the project, namely: Genting Highlands, Berjaya Time Square, Mines Wonderland, Sunway Lagoon and other water parks like Bukit Merah Resort and Wet World Water Park. We also wanted to feature the rides of the places mention and other interesting info we can find.

After consulting with our tutor we find out that our scope is too wide and we have to narrow down to focus to 2 locations: Times Square and Sunway Lagoon. These 2 locations are selected as there are more primary sources and it is within the Klang Valley. In these two locations we would have to breakdown to few topics such as the ride features, safety measurements structure and so on. Zaei suggested to set the target group as children ages 6-12 and have a fave theme with bright colours. Topics include safety precautions, ride features and rules and regulations for each ride featured there.

First Day

I have found my friend Zaei as my team member in my group. We do not have a offical team name yet, but the ball is started to roll.

Various themes are popping up during the brainstorming process, ranging from comic artists to online games. Finally we agreed to present some places of interests and we have finalized local theme parks as our topic.
